| This is the table that Simon's
mother made for us for Christmas 1998. Underneath the
table is an enscription reading: "THIS WOOD WAS WASHED ASHORE IN DECEMBER 1998 AT MILL HAVEN, PEMBROKESHIRE DURING A VIOLENT STORM. FOR SIMON AND JO CHRISTMAS 1998. MADE WITH LOVE BY JO HEWISON." The story is that a ship carrying a cargo of hardwood above deck was caught in a storm. For one reason or another, the cargo was freed and washed ashore on nearby beaches. Simon's parents took a tractor and trailer load of the wood and used a fair amount of it to renovate a cottage in Little Haven which they later named "Driftwood Cottage". |

Here is the table in use. The table was designed with the specific dimentions of the height of our sofa and the space between the sofa and the door. However, I'm sure that it will always have a good home and become a family heirloom with a story behind it. |
